About Monticello, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Monticello, Illinois is a growing city found in Piatt County, Illinois. As the county seat, this community has seen growth with each government census, with the most recent population exceeding 5,500 residents. Monticello is found between Champaign and Decatur, and it is almost nearly equidistant from Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago. The most notable resident of Monticello was Dr. William B. Caldwell, who founded the Pepsin Syrup Company; this business was the city’s primary employer from 1893-1985, when it closed.
Whether you live in Monticello or are just passing through, there are several popular destinations you might like to visit. During the spring and summer months, Monticello hosts a farmer’s market on Thursdays that is popular among residents, while locals that are looking for a wedding venue or simply a great place to take a hike might like to visit the Allerton Park & Retreat Center. Outdoor recreation is available at Lodge Park, Eli Field, and the Monticello Family Aquatic Center, while other popular attractions include the Monticello Railway Museum, Prairie Fire Glass, and Monticello Family Bowl.
The weather in Monticello features four completely different seasons with varied conditions. Typical of the Midwestern U.S., the area is part of a humid continental climate zone with hot and humid summers. July is the hottest month of the year, with average highs reaching the mid- to upper-80s. Central air conditioning is a necessity in order to make it through the season comfortably, although these systems are quickly swapped out as temperatures cool down during the winter.
Winters in Monticello are cold and snowy, although total accumulation will vary from season to season. To stay safe when temperatures fall below the freezing point, residents will rely on an energy efficient furnace. Without these appliances, pipes and home plumbing systems could be at risk of freezing, which could warrant some expensive repairs.
