Located in Champaign County, Illinois, Tolono is a small village with about 3,500 residents. The community was founded in the early 1800s as a result of a land-grant that allowed the Illinois Central Railroad to expand southward. Initially, the community was home to many of the railroad’s employees, and today, several streets are still named after the railroad’s administrative staff.  Unit Seven Schools services the greater Tolono area, which also includes the communities of Sidney, Pesotum, and Sadorus, and older students will complete their education at Unity High School. Notable residents have included professional athletes Rocky Ryan and Brian Cardinal.

Although Tolono is a relatively small community, there are a few popular businesses located in the area. Way Out Escape Rooms is located here and is a popular attraction for visitors and residents alike, while outdoor recreational opportunities are available at Tolono East Side Park. There are some great restaurants in the community, including Loose Cobra, Traxside, and the Tolono Diner, and specialty shops include Halo Florist, Jafra, and Joy’s Wedding Center. 

It is crucial that Tolono residents invest in the right climate control systems so that they are well-prepared for anything Mother Nature sends their way. From late June to early September, conditions are usually humid and hot, and since heat waves can boost temperatures well into the 90s, it is crucial that residents have access to a cool and comfortable place to beat the heat. Since Tolono is located in Tornado Alley, severe weather is common, and the right climate controls are especially important when these conditions keep residents homebound.

While a good central air conditioning system is needed during the summer, these systems are usually swapped out in favor of a furnace during the winter, when conditions become cold and snowy. With temperatures that fall below the freezing point most evenings, the right furnace can keep interior temperatures warm while improving the quality of indoor circulating air.
